The D K Baloyi’s family can be traced back to Rooiwal in the Northern Side of Pretoria, Near Walmansdal, the Baloyi and Nobela families were relocated during the 1960 forced removals by the then Apartheid government to Boekonhout currently known as Mabopane in the North West Province. His grandfather had by then four wives that couldn’t be accommodated in a one-roomed house in Boekenhout. The grandfather William Ndengeza Baloyi and grandmother Lukazi Madzibandlela were successful Traditional Healers, ultimately bought a 30 Morgan farm in Madinyane, since his grandmother the first wife had nor her to the throne, the grandson D. K. being the first son of William Makasela Nobela and Maria Nyanisi nee Baloyi was given to the grandparents family according to tradition. The Apartheid’s forced removals torn families apart and I remained a Baloyi to date.
Mr DK Baloyi, as popularly known, started school in Madinyane, a consisted hard worker of above average performance and achiever, did well in his studies and became a teacher at age 22 (1975). Realising that that was not enough, as he originally wanted to follow a career in the Natural Sciences, registered for a Bachelor of Science with the University of South Africa after obtaining a senior certificate through part-time. It became a mountain; ended up following a qualification in Human Sciences and obtained the following tertiary qualifications:

Mr DK Baloyi a teacher by profession became a Head of Department in Career guidance, a school Principal and an Inspector of schools in Career Guidance in the former Department of Education and Training. He was at the same time a motivational speaker and a Researcher on Creativity, her presented papers nationally and internationally on creativity.
In 1994 took an Inter-departmental transfer to the Department of Correctional Services; within two years was promoted to a Brigadier, later re-named Director; worked until he took early retirement in 2009. David married Margaret Maggie and the family was blessed with four children, three girls and a son, they two couldn’t avoid the father’s influence as reflected in the following:

Mr DK Baloyi is an Author of Motivational books, in 1992 co-authored a Career guidance book for Middle schools, and wrote a number of papers and articles on Creativity. The passing of their first daughter, who was an exceptional scholar and motivator; wrote a motivational booklet: “Windows into your Future” died two days after completing the Manuscript. It propelled DK to resume writing. The booklet started the Legacy of ”A Rose called Thandi” it was published in 2017, the second and Third Editions will be published soon. Mr Baloyi’s motivational talks and A Rose called Thandi, continue to transform lives.
